Covid-19

Each new day brings new development in regard to Covid-19. Here is a quick update of how we are going to continue to connect as a church community during the various corona virus restrictions.

The first thing I want to clearly community is that our in-person worship gatherings are suspended until further notice. In an effort to promote the holistic wellness of our community, the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne made appropriate decisions which includes canceling church services. We will keep you posted with information here on our Facebook page. While our in-person gatherings may be canceled, CHURCH is not canceled.

Each Sunday at 10am, we will offer “Live from the Parsonage” right here on our Facebook page. We will offer a time of worship through song and a message. This Sunday (March 22), our message “Not Afraid: Calming Storms” will focus on Matthew 8:23-27. It seems like this is an appropriate time to talk about how Jesus meets us in our fear, worry and anxiety and calms our storms.

We will also be sharing links on Facebook to reading plans on the Bible app. If you don’t have the Bible app on your phone, you can access it via your favorite web browser at bible.com. This is a way to keep growing through regular Scripture reading, study and prayer.

I would like to encourage you to be in prayer for one another. While we may not know all of one another’s needs at this time, we do know that God is fully aware and in control. Pray for our community, state, national and world leaders. Pray for those in our medical community. Pray for those who are adjusting to this “new normal”.

I would also like to encourage you to find ways to connect with one another. Make some phone calls, send a text, FaceTime, email or write a letter to people. If you have specific prayer requests or needs, please message us on Facebook or email me at jmorris@stjoemin.com

We understand that these are difficult and uncertain times. Some watching this have no idea when their next paycheck will come or how much it will be. People are losing wages and jobs. Therefore, we need to be praying in this aspect.

Two other ways to connect: Serve and Give – write some notes of encouragement for those in nursing homes – have your kids draw a picture – we will share some ways you can continue to be #ForTheFort as we work with community leaders to identify gaps that our church can appropriately respond to.

You can continue to financially support the ministry of the church through giving via our website (stjoemin.com) or our app. On Monday, Saint Joseph distributed 500 sack lunches throughout our community. Your faithful giving helps make that happen.

We also fully understand that the current situation we find ourselves in may impact the level at which you can give. We don’t want anyone to feel guilty if you can’t give or continue giving at the same level. We understand that. We want your giving to come from a cheerful and joy-filled heart.

We hope you’ll join us on Facebook Live this Sunday at 10am for “Live from the Parsonage”. Utilize the comment section to say “hello” to one another, to share prayer requests, and to offer some general encouragement to one another. We are praying for you! Remember that God is with us and God is for us.
